What I am about to say is not PC, but it is the truth. For all of the complaints about diversity in the USA, I wish we would also realize and celebrate the fact that we are a very diverse and tolerant society when compared to the world and human history. Many nations are very homogenous, and quietly racists in their perceived superiority of their race. China and the Middle East are some of the worst offenders. And this is nothing new and no surprise about Japan. Theirs is only a kinder-gentler version of elitism.
This is a good example of the need for an electoral college. People in populated areas will bias their needs, reality, and votes over the needs and reality of those in rural areas. Besides, driving is also fun.
